SCAM ALERT
PHONE SCAM ALERT FROM WCCU – FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2024
We have received reports of another potential “spoofing” scam. It involves phone calls that appear to be from WCCU. In this instance the calls look to be coming from “West Coop Cr Un”. The purpose of these types of scam calls is to try to trick people into providing personal information.
WCCU will NEVER call you asking for passwords, codes, or numbers.
If you receive a call claiming to be from WCCU that asks you for any personal information (see examples below), hang up. If they call again, hang up and call your local WCCU Branch. Do not use the call-back feature on the phone because that may go back to the fraudster.
If you receive one of these calls on a weekend or when WCCU is not open, please take note of when you received the call and contact WCCU during regular business hours. Again, DO NOT provide any numbers or personal information to callers that are initiating a call to you!
To avoid being a victim of fraud, HANG UP if you receive a call from anyone asking you for:
- Social Security Numbers
- Complete credit/debit card numbers
- PIN numbers
- CVV numbers and security codes
- Online access codes and password
